The Name of the National Park is Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve or Tadoba National Park. Established in 1955. The total area of the National Park was 625 sqkm as a main Core Area of the Jungle. Now it has became total 3750 sqkm including Core & Buffer Zones of the Jungle.
In Marathi, they call Ajoba [मानोबा) to their Grand Father and Panjoba (पणजोबा) to their Great Grandfather, Taru was the Village Chief, a Gond King and an Elder Personality in Chandrapur District so everyone used to call him Taruba ().
He died in a fight with a Tiger and later Locals built a small Temple in his name and it was called Tarußa Temple. It is still there located near the Tadoba Lake and behind the New Breakfast Place. Later Feople started calling it Tadoba Temple and then the Name to the National Park was given Tadoba National Park. The Park is mainly surrounded by Gond People, Today the Safari Guides and the Drivers in Tadoba National Park are mainly from Gond Community
